About Laurie

Thank you for visiting my website! I’m Laurie Kelly, Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and health & wellness practitioner.

The dragonfly is a symbol of transformation – and it represents all the changes and evolutions that occur throughout our lives.

My latest evolution has been from fitness and nutrition coach, to full-time yoga and mind/body wellness practitioner.

I spent 35 years working in the corporate world, the last 20 in which I oversaw the anti-money laundering and fraud division of a multi-billion dollar bank. When I retired from “financial crime fighting,” I knew I wanted to help others – especially those in my baby-boomer age group – to become stronger and healthier. After a year of in-depth study and becoming certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), I founded Dragonfly Fitness and Nutrition Coaching, LLC.

When COVID-19 hit in March of 2020, I pivoted my in-person coaching to virtual and online formats. The virtual format is here to stay, and gives me the opportunity to reach so many more people, no matter where they are.

After almost 30 years of practicing yoga, I fulfilled a long-time dream of becoming a certified yoga instructor. I completed my 200-hour teacher training in January 2023, and am now a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). In teacher training I learned so much more than I ever thought about the breadth of yoga traditions and practice. This had a tremendous impact on my own mindset, fitness, and overall health. When I began teaching my own yoga classes, I found joy like nothing I’d ever experienced. I decided that yoga would be my full focus from that point onward.

So this is my latest evolution – Dragonfly Drishti Yoga. (Read more here about the meaning of the name.)

I understand your challenges in work/life balance, dealing with stress, managing time effectively and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, because I’ve faced them all myself. I know what it feels like to be in midlife, to go through menopause, and how intimidating and overwhelming it can be to get started on a path to a healthy lifestyle. In today’s world we’re bombarded with information about this or that workout, diet, or fitness fad that promises quick and easy results. Yoga has been around for almost 3,000 years, so it’s not a passing fad! I’d love to show you how yoga can help you tune out all the noise, and focus in on what is right for you.
